Daniel Boutin's
1977 Grand LeMans
Daniel Boutin tells us..." Hi, here is a picture of my car.It is a 1977 Pontiac GrandLemans 4 door. I first saw this car back in the early 80s while visiting a friend a mine.It belonged to his brother. I thought the car looked pretty cool and told him to call me if he ever wanted to sell it.
Many years passed and I lost track of it until September 1992, when my friend drove it to work with a FOR SALE sign on it. But the timing was bad and I couldn't buy it then. But in June 1993,I had to go on a 3 weeks trip for my job and my lovely wife bought it while I was gone! She paid next to nothing for it and the guy even delivered it to my door step! That was 9 years ago and I'm still excited to think about it!
Since then some minor work was done to the GLM. Body work, the paint is now 13 years old, cleaning up the engine bay, tires, a new carpet was installed 2 years ago. I replaced some components in the front end. I've driven it quite a lot a the beginning but now I use it only for shows, local cruises and for Sunday drives. My 2 daughters enjoy the GLM also.
I try to go to as many car shows in the area as possible. 3 years ago it took 2nd place at a local show. Last year,1st place. And this year 3rd place in it's category.
I am very proud of my car also because being a 4 doors makes it even more rare (1 of 5,584 produced in 1977). It also has many options like power windows, tilt steering, electric trunk, light group, remote mirrors.
In conclusion, a special thanks to my wife Nancy for all her patience and help with my passion.
