1976 Pontiac LeMans
This is
James Toth's 1976 Pontiac LeMans.
James tells us
" I was searching for some parts for my 76 Lemans and stumbled upon your web page..Great job!!
Here is a pic of my 76 Lemans Sportcoupe..My first car was a 76 Lemans...(plain, not a sportcoupe)..My father's friend occasionally bringhis 76 Lemans Sportcoupe over to our house and park it next to mine and put itto shame...Eventually I ended up selling my Lemans..the 260 V8 was in worse shape than the body was..Anway a few years went by and my father's friend stopped over our house and asked me if I would like to have his car..hiswife died recently and he had too many memories about the car she loved...Ibought the car on 4-1-91 with 46 thousand miles on it.
After driving it around as daily transportation for a few years I decided to do some major cosmetic improvements. The car was completely stripped of most paint and all trim pieces, the few rotted areas were welded back together and finished with a minimal amount of body filler, the vinyl top was replaced with Elkhound, thecar was painted and clear coated, and a new rear bumper was attached to her after 18 months of searching and dealing with unscrupulous bumper dealers...

Anyway as the picture shows, the car looks great. It shines just like it did when it came out of the spraybooth..It hasn't been rubbed out, buffed leaving the booth.
As of today, the car has 74,000 miles on it and runs fine except for the usual LeMans hesitation when cold. Future improvements are going to be the addition of a tilt steering column, cleaning up the engine compartment, and installing the wheel opening moldings.
