Mark Delano's
1973 Pontiac GTO
This is
Mark Delano's 1973 Pontiac GTO.
Mark tells us...
"
This was the second 73 gto i
bought,as the first one which my son told me about that was for sale for
400$.When he told me about the car,he wasen't sure what year but said it
looked weired. The next day even though i wasent really interested i was
curious,so i went to look to find it was a 73 gto.It was in bad shape,had a
400 4-speed,ps,pb,air,tach gauges,and was only 400$.Even though i really
didn't like the car,i bought it anyways.After a coupple of weeks,i saw
another 73 gto advertised in the local paper for 1,800.So off i went to
look.I struck a deal for 1,300, aired the tires because it had been
sitting for 3 years, and drove car home. The white paint buffed out good, the
int. not so good cleaned up good enough to drive. The car had real stale
gas,so i decided to drop the tank to drain the gas. When i did to my surprise
i found the build sheet, mostly intact and readable.

Turns out the car is
real,has a 455 auto,308 posi.,ps,pb,working air,tach,gauges,bumper
strips,bumper guards,factory baby blue stripe,tripple black,dual sport
mirrors, rally two's,red carpet at no xtra charge.I was verry pleased with
purchase. It still had the correct engine, and trans, and also had louvered
windows.
It has been about 3 years and have decided to restore the car,new add ons
include,tilt,cruise,reclining driver and pass. seats,2 1/2 stainless
flowmaster sys. with ram air manifolds frome year one, munci 4-speed
conversion with
correct parts frome other car.The correct 455 is almost done, but not totaly
stock on inside only, outside of engine to remain stock looking. The engine has
been balanced, cam was selected by jim butler to give it some more
performance,roller chain,RA -4 oil pump,71 gto 96 heads,total seal
rings,harland sharp 1.65 roller rockers,center force clutch,3.42 rear gear.I
am in process of doing body work and paint, and buying anything nos. i can
find.I do not have means of sending pictures on my computer yet,but i am
working on it.Guess thats it for now , thanks!
