Return of Mickey / Tee
High Performance Cars - August 1973
Gatornationals; March 1973 ...Butch Maas suffers and survivesone of the worst drag racing fires. The car is totalled, but Butchis recovering. The new Revelleader M/T Pontiac Grand-Am funnycar is now running with Dale Pulde " up. " The new car is virtuallya carbon copy (intentional) of the original.Mickey Thompson has been in thevanguard of drag racing for over 25 yearsand he lived up to his reputation as aninnovator. when he debuted a PontiacGrand-Am Funny Car for the 1973 funny carseason. The yellow screamer, with Butch Maas"up", ran and looked great, but Maas suffered asevere fire at the '73 Gatornationals in March (seeCARS July, 1973, page 70-71) and he is recoveringin the hospital.

Dale Pulde, driver of M- Tee's titanium Pinto (the one that Steve Montrelli formerly wrenched), willfill-in for Butch Maas, until Butch fully recoversand drives the new M- T Grand-Am. (Maas should beback in the cockpit as you read this.)

The new car, just like its "father," is sponsored byRevell (Revelleader) and Peter Paul (No Jelly), isyellow, blue and white with yellow prevailing; thecar is from the Kirby-Buttera stables with letteringby Nat, 'natch.

Now, everyone knows you must runa stroker "motor" to be anywhere near competitivein F-Car, but would you believe a 3-4 inch Moldexsteel-billet "arm", which brings the cubic-inchdisplacement up to 540 cubic inches!!!
The rods andpistons are, of course, Mickey Thompson items.
(What'd ya' expect?)
