76 and 77 LeMans Enforcer Police Cars

The following 5 photos were brought to my attention by Denny Maljevac. He found them at

" Hi Peter, site looks great. I found this site with a couple of real 1976 and 1977 LeMans enforcer cop cars. Maybe you'd consider making a link to the site. "

Well, here it is, a link to the site, and pics of the said vehicles.

1976 LeMans Enforcer 1
1976 LeMans Enforcer 2

1977 LeMans Enforcer

1977 LeMans Enforcer 2
1977 LeMans Enforcer 3

Also, I received some information from a fellow who simply calls himself Jim, and this is what he had to say...

" Dear Sir, Years ago my second car was a 1976 Pontiac LeMans 4 door. I remember that car as having its original owners manual and in it was information on the Enforcer Police Car. The information I remember on that particular year car was about its engine. The owners manual had listed that the Enforcer came with a factory bored over 460ci engine and was called the 460 Police Interceptor. The owners manual also stated the same things you had already listed about the heavy duty suspension and anti-sway bars. I hope this can be of some use. I sold the car in 1985, it had a 350ci 2bbl . A fine car in its day. Any questions about any of the three Pontiacs I have owned please feel free to e-mail me. jrr3030@hotmail.com.
I have owned the following Pontiacs:

1973 Pontiac Catalina 2 door hardtop 400ci 2bbl

1976 Pontiac LeMans 4 door 350ci 2bbl

1976 Pontiac Grand Prix 400ci 2bbl

As I used to be a big Pontiac fan I will be going to your web site more often.

See Ya, Jim. "
Ok, and although I've got it already in the 1977 History and Model I.D. section of my site, I'll just add in a little bit more that I found myself regarding these vehicles.

Just in case "Burt Reynolds" was tempted to drive overly fast in his Trans Am during the filming of "Smokey and the Bandit", Pontiac officials could have reminded him that they were also manufacturing a four-door LeMans "Enforcer" which was probably quicker than his Trans Am. The exact features of such a machine are not available, but it undoubtedly had a big V-8 motor (some say the 455 was held over); heavy-duty chassis and some custom equipment designed to aid keepers of the peace in their appointed duties. Special finish and roof mounted appliances followed a somewhat standard package form, but there were usually various accommodations to the needs of local departments.
