My 1974 Pontiac LeMANS 400 4-speed
sport coupe

This is my 1974 Pontiac LeMANS 400 4-speed sport coupe. According to documents I've acquired from General Motors of Canada there were 11 of these cars built in the USA and 2 built in Canada that came factory equipped with a 4-speed transmission. My car was built in Canada.

It is a numbers matching all original car right down to the air cleaner. It came equipped with a 400 cubic inch (6.6 litre) engine putting out a rather modest 230 horsepower with 395 ft/lbs of torque. The transmission is a Muncie M-20 wide ratio.
There are only 48,000 miles showing on the odometer which is housed within a 160 mph Speedometer. The dash also houses complete guages including a 8,000 rpm tachometer.
The interior is all black and sports bucket seats and factory 4-speed console.

The exterior was a little faded when I bought the car from the original owner in 1989 so I got it freshened up in the original colour of "Gulfmist Aqua".
There is a bottom of the line basic suspension on this car which does not even include a rear sway bar. Take a corner too fast and you'll be scraping the door handles.
The car is equipped with a 3.42 ratio Saf-T-Track (posi) rear end and sports factory 14X7 inch Pontiac Rallye II mags.

Here's the really strange part about this car. it was ordered without:
POWER STEERING
POWER BRAKES
RADIO
CARPETING
HEATER

Just taking this thing to the store is quite a chore and don't even get me started about parallel parking. It's quite a battle. With a little over 8 turns lock to lock the steering is sloooooow.

But I really love this car for all the sporty looks it has as well as the options it doesn't have. No power draining accessories here eh?!

Yep. A car for the 40's built in the 70's.

Check out this car in "High Performance Pontiac" magazine.
